PCB makers are planning to hike their quotes to reflect rising costs for key materials, including fiber glass yarns/fabrics, copper foils and copper clad laminates (CCLs), according to industry sources.

    Prices for mainstream fiber glass yarns and fabrics in March were 20% and 25% higher than those quoted in January, while quotes for CCLs have increased by 30% since the beginning of 2010, the sources indicated.

    For April, the prices of fiber glass yarns/fabrics are likely to move up 15-20% and the quotes for CCLs are expected to increase by another 5-10%, said the sources.

    While trying to raise their quotes to pass the increased material costs on to clients, most PCB makers have not yet decided the extent of the price hikes, noted the sources.
